Record Prices At The Pump
This weekend, Memorial Day weekend at that, is considered by many as the unofficial start of the summer season. Even if schools are not officially out, many people like to head to the beach for a few days of rest and relaxation.
Our family made the trip to Carolina Beach, NC, a 150 mile journey each way. With a couple of side trips included, we easily drove around 400 miles, much more than we usually drive in a week’s time.
Gas mileage for our little SUV should have been around 25 mpg. So, with 16 gallons expended at $3.099 per fill up, you are looking at $50 for an in-state trek alone.
Gas prices are at an all time high adjusted for inflation. Will that keep people from traveling? No, but it could mean that people will choose destinations closer to home just as we did.
