Self employment has its benefits as does working for an employer, two very different ways to make a living. With the former, I’m much more independent but with the latter I can depend on someone else to provide the paycheck.
April is a pressure packed month especially if federal and state income taxes have yet to be filed. This year, I did my taxes in February, but when I found out that I would actually owe something, have delayed filing until this month. I will be setting aside some time this Saturday to review my taxes and, if everything looks fine, file them online. If some sort of problem does come up, I have until next Tuesday to finish.
I’m also working on several other deadlines while meeting the requirements of the various taxing authorities. One magazine article was submitted last week with another due on Friday. In addition, I have several blog articles to write and I must answer some email inquiries about my availability plus a few private messages I have held off answering. I’d rather delay a response then to send off a hurried reply only to regret what I have to say later.
Finally, I have pair of new sites to launch, but they won’t see the light of day until after April 15th. Yes, I’m prioritizing my work, making judgment calls on what I should do now and what I can put off. Like something as mundane as whether to leave an “e” in a certain word or not! ![]()
Well, not really oops. I did upgrade one of the nine blogs I manage this morning thinking I had backed everything up, but then realized later that I ftp’d to another blog instead. This second blog hadn’t been backed up, but the upgrade went smoothly anyway. I guess I shouldn’t try to multi-task while doing something as important as a major WordPress upgrade. Tsk tsk on me.
When I began writing this post, I had one blog left to upgrade — the one that you are reading. I was a bit nervous doing this one thinking that there could be some glitch that would distract me from other projects I am working on today. I have an important deadline for Friday and the last thing that I needed was to be saddled with fixing a problem that shouldn’t of happened in the first place.
To shorten what is already too long of a story, I saved this post, backed up the database for this blog, and completed the upgrade. Simple. Painless. Quick.
All nine blogs have been upgraded to WordPress 2.5 and not one presented a problem. I’ve heard of a few horror stories from others who tried to upgrade and failed, but mine made it without incident. I am a bit surprised as one of the themes for a customer’s site is rather old and outdated.
One final note: I realize that this blog is featured on various “No Follow” lists which is fine with me. However, if you can’t figure a way of leaving an intelligent comment as a means of gaining some link love, then don’t expect me to keep your comment around. ‘Nuff said.
I’ve been going through my inventory and have decided to clean out several sites and domain names. Each site is hosted and registered through GoDaddy, assume no income. Free push to your GoDaddy account.

Comments — I wrote every article on the site. Some of the earlier articles were shared with article directories while most of the recent material is unique to the site. Debt2Assets is a personal finance blog geared toward helping people get out of debt. Assume no income.

Comments — All of the material on this site is unique. I started TD with the intention of pitching it as a cruise line resource site, but got very busy with another career site. Assume no income.

Comments — I thought this domain was a lot older than it was, but I found out after I bought it that it was dropped. Therefore, I lost interest in developing the site which has just a few pages to it.
