Entrecard Notes, Update 1
Last week I announced that I was giving Entercard a look over, applying their widget to five of my blogs. I’ve been taking my time learning the system, but I have been a big time dropper so far. I think I’ve only advertised once or twice to date.
I am late to the Entrecard game, so I realize that some of you are pros while others have used Entrecard and left. For those of you who have been sitting on the sidelines to this point, I offer to you the following observations:
- There is a core group of entrecarders who seem to drive the system. Known a “power droppers” they routinely hit their 300 drop limit each day. Most also are part of a “You Drop, I Follow” network, just the type of person who is guaranteed to stop by.
- Asia is well represented - I’m finding plenty of bloggers from Malaysia and the Philippines present. Without generalizing, most take their networking very seriously.
- If you talk up Entrecard you may get a visit from founder Graham Langdon who will leave a comment on your blog and invite you to join their forum (I haven’t done this yet).
- You can stumble the Entrecard site, but for some reason StumbleUpon has banned their blog. BTW, I like to stumble “entrecard” and find drops that way. If the article is good, I’ll give it a thumbs up. If it isn’t I usually keep moving.
- Like any social media system, Entrecard can be addictive. Some people definitely need to get a life, but you can say the same about me when it comes to StumbleUpon!
I plan on running Entrecard on these five blogs for some time, but the widgets will stay below the fold on this blog and on my automotive blog. If an ad is ugly, it doesn’t stand a chance for approval nor does any site that I think my readership wouldn’t be interested in.
More Entrecard notes to follow!

EC Blog banned from SU? I got to check this. Thanks!
I’ve ran across quite a bunch of articles on Entrecard lately. Your post is quite great for those like me who are thinking about it but not decided yet.
I really can’t wait to hear a little more on this, maybe I finally decide to give it a try. For now, I still feel it requires a lot of time which I of course lack
Matt,
Just wondering is there any stats available for the click thru rate if you advertise on EC?
Asia’h — Click through rates seem to vary, but those stats are available if you are a member of Entrecard and track that information. So far, I’ve gotten very little click through.
Interesting post. I just read the summary of Entrecard over at Men With Pens. It’ll be interesting to see what you have to say.
EC was my first shot when trying to promote my blog, I am newbie in blogging as well. So far I can say all the best for EC, it has brought readers for my blog the more the I have expected.
By the way, this is how I have found this blog which is in my modest opinion - a tremendous one. Thanks for sharing.
Jasko, thank you for your kind words. Yes, Entrecard is opening up some doors for me, particularly relating to some of my smaller blogs which need the juice. I’m glad that it is helping you too — a little bit of traffic can go a long way!
I’ve heard bad things about EntreCard. There used to be a lot of ways to cheat the system, so I removed it from my blog. I don’t want someone cheating me out of my own traffic.
i have not tried EC yet to increase traffic…maybe i will give it a shot.
