Circling The Blogosphere, Honing In On Some Good Stuff

I make frequent trips around the blogosphere to read what other’s are saying about a wide variety of topics. Freelance writers/editors, tech sites, SEO gurus, and select aviation sites are regularly visited by me. I almost always come away with something that is new and worth sharing, including the following “good stuff” I discovered very recently:

Feed Your Mind

Mice In LoveJonathan writes about brainstorming and keeping the big picture in front of you at all times. He shared information about FreeMinds, a tool that you can use to help you keep an eye on the big picture.

Children Love To Write

Laura shared her desire for parents to encourage their children to write. As a writer, Laura’s desire shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it is something children can do and enjoy with parental encouragement. Her article brought back memories of my own childhood spending summers reading (along with playing) which fueled my personal desire to write.

ArticleSphere Is Back!

One of my favorite article submission sites is ArticleSphere a site managed by Larry Lim. Larry’s directory is one of many built on the back of Article Dashboard technology, but his site is one of the best managed ones out there. Recently, I learned that the site was not able to accept new articles for a time as they made the transition to a new server. Well, I am happy to report that the transition is over and ArticleSphere is once again accepting new submissions.

Grease Your Way To Success

Fred shared some good tips on how to reach your goals in life. One stand out point he made is not to give up. Instead, you may have to change some of your current methods for reaching your goals by emulating people who have successfully accomplished something that you want to do. I like what Fred shared about WD-40 — a product I like to use — Fred says that it took its inventor 40 attempt to arrive at the winning formula. Talk about resiliency!

How Often Do You Blog?

Darren asked his readers about their blogging habits, trying to uncover just how many articles they wrote per week. Surprise, surprise — maybe not to you — but the champion bloggers (or those some people call A-List bloggers) produce the most work while many of us regular folks settle on one per weekday. What is the average number? You’ll have to visit ProBlogger to find that information out yourself!

Pillar Articles Hold Up Your Blog

Pillar articles (as some call it) are one way for new bloggers to get established in the blogosphere. I am a firm believer that if you develop a handful of well researched, well written articles and introduce them to your blog, then you’ll soon develop a reputation for being an authority within your sphere of expertise. Maki agrees, sharing his four reasons in an article on his Dosh Dosh blog.

As always, I want to thank everyone who is a reader of The Article Writer whether by subscription or through stopping by. If you have a site that I need to know about, please drop me a note or leave your comment here and I’ll check out what you have to say.

Murdoch To Ditch MySpace For Yahoo Share?

News Corp. boss Rupert Murdoch appears ready to ditch control of MySpace in favor of a 25% stake in Yahoo Yahoo!according to key industry sources including Marketing Pilgrim’s Andy Beal. In exchange for selling MySpace to Yahoo for the princely sum of $12 billion, Murdoch’s company would gain partial ownership of Yahoo (that amount has been reported to be a 30% share by the UK Times).

First Facebook, Now Myspace?

The news of a possible deal comes after Yahoo backed off from purchasing MySpace rival Facebook last fall when the price of Facebook pushed past $1 billion. Facebook has been steadily gaining ground on MySpace, but the Mark Zuckerberg-led company has decided to remain independent a decision that could quickly change if MySpace becomes part of the Yahoo network.

A Twenty-Fold Profit For News Corp!

For Murdoch, the sale of MySpace to Yahoo would be a watershed event. Two years ago Murdoch paid $580 million for MySpace so the $11+ billion dollar profit would come in handy for News Corp. as it battles the General Electric/Pearson/Bancroft Family coalition for ownership of Dow Jones (owner of the Wall Street Journal).
