7 Conversations That Have Caught My Attention
Okay, I admit it: there are times when it is easier for me to simply give out the link loving instead of spending hours toiling over an article to post here. This week I have been busy hawking a site while drumming up fresh business and updating several WordPress blogs to version 2.2 (a long, drawn out process that needs your full attention if you haven’t updated your blog(s) as of yet). My hands are full, but I keep my sanity in check by taking breaks and reading what others have to say. Here is what I recently found:
Muhammad Saleen has an article on Copyblogger titled, “Writing Headlines for Regular Readers, Search Engines, and Social Media,” explaining how you can write for all three areas together — this is one area I will be working extra hard on over the coming months to improve.
“15 Reasons Why Geeks Make Great Boyfriends” is a must read for those of us who have a flair for a things cyber. Not everyone who commented understood the joke, so take a look at it with a lighthearted attitude.
If you don’t own your name as your domain yet, you may want to consider doing so at least that is something pointed out in the article, Graduates: Do You Own YourName.Com by Mike Sansone. What caught my attention was his appeal to parents — why not register your children’s domain name today as who knows what value it could have in ten or twenty years time?
Earlier this week I commented on eBay’s acquisition of StumbleUpon. Although I made light of the change, the response to eBay’s involvement has been overwhelmingly negative. Marty Weintraub noted that eBay will be able to track stumblers’ habits, something he pointed out in Will eBay Wreck StumbleUpon? Once again, the comments are quite revealing on just how sensitive this subject with S.U. faithful is.
Why Everyone Needs A Coach is an article for writers, but it can apply to any one of us. Sometimes we need an objective person to be accountable to; Suzanne Lieurance shares 7 compelling reasons why this is so.
I will probably always use a simple text editor to create my blog posts when I don’t develop my entries from the WordPress panel itself. Microsoft has a product, Windows Live Writer, which allows people to write and post their blogs remotely. Terrance Chang reviewed this product making mention of the great demands on system memory that this tool requires (no surprise there).
Darren Rowse asked, “When Was Your Biggest Day of Traffic and How Did it Happen?” on his ProBlogger site. Although I did not leave a comment, I would have to say that the traffic generated through the “No Follow/Do Follow/I Follow” movement regularly sends to me surges of visitors; my “Are You A Do Follower Blogger?” has brought about the most comments followed closely by the “Death to the Meme Movement!” entry. I have Tricia to thank for hooking me up with the “do follow” deal.
I am also spending more time to see just who my members are for my The Article Writer community on MyBlogLog. I have come across some wonderful people, but I must admit that I am a slacker when it comes to quickly responding to comments posted.
