I have been quietly struggling with an important issue lately — don’t you love the word, issues? — centered on the workings of my web host (the guilty shall remain nameless, at least for now). JetEmploymentTurns out that they have been having some hardware and software problems that have slowed down the speed of sites that use databases, namely MySQL. As it turns out, every single one of my WordPress blogs are hosted through various accounts I have with them.

Supposedly, the issue is now resolved but I have noticed that there are times when I pull up a page on my blogs, the page will not load. This usually means that I get a 500 internal server message or a Firefox “can’t find page” notice appears.

Let’s Shut it Down

Last Friday afternoon, their entire system shut down for about twenty minutes time. For most people twenty minutes isn’t all that much, but I do host six websites with them and several are usually very busy. Never mind that this hosting company guarantees 99.9% up time.I am not complaining, simply making an observation. Yet, whenever there is a problem with a web host doesn’t that problem reverberate to impact everything that you do? Namely, uploading files to the internet or blogging.

I’m hoping that the current “issues” of this provider are over. I check their message boards frequently (when they are up and running) and read as many of the messages from other webmasters as I can. I may not understand all of the technical gizmo talk, but I certainly can relate to when a site is down.

Just a minor rant in the grand scheme of life.
