PageRank: How Did Your Site(s) Do?
I am not going to bore you nor will I brag to you, but the latest Google PageRank update was
very good for me. Every site that I manage stayed even or improved, with earlier losses recovered thanks to some careful linking strategies on my part.
So, how did your sites do? Did you gain rank, lose rank, or stay the same?
Yesterday, I reported that the changes were not yet evident on the Google toolbar, but later in the afternoon those changes did show up. So, if you haven’t checked your toolbar recently, then go ahead and do so today — your current ranking should appear.
If you are planning to launch a new web site soon or overhaul your current one, then now is the best time to do that. Wait until mid June and you may not have enough time to achieve a decent page ranking when the next one shows up by around August 1st. Then again, SERPs rule — what do you think?

My page ranked jumped two points! I was excited. I need to download the Google toolbar. Haven’t done that yet.
Congratulations, Lisa! Sounds like your linking efforts have paid off.
my page did nothing, but then again I am just started and am new to blogging and page rank. Any tips for getting my page rank up?
Hi Svend,
It looks like your site was started around the time that Google visited to determine PageRank. You should see ranking with the next update provided that most of your content is original, updated regularly, and you exchange relevant links with ranked sites.
Most blogs should come in around PR3 with the initial ranking if these steps are taken. PR4 and PR5 are also possible, but they may come about only after several updates.
Best wishes with the blog.

My blog is brand new (i started it April) and i got a PR 2 with the new update. I was happy I got some page rank instead of nothing! Right now, I’m trying to continue to post new content and also build out some of the regular pages of my site.
Oh.. and to Lisa: once you download the toolbar, you’ll love it! You’ll wonder how you ever got along with out it!
That’s very good, Victoria! With this most recent update it appears that if a site was launched in the first part of April and the web manager aggressively added content and inbound links, then their home page received a ranking.
It seems that you were successful on both counts.
I had gotten as high as a 6, but that got knocked down to a 5 this last update. I know in the grand scheme of things it does not matter, but it is frustrating, none the less.
You are right about that Hugh.
When “The Article Writer” launched in May 2005 it quickly snagged a PR6 for the home page, but none of the other pages were ranked. The blog didn’t exist then, just 6-8 pages. Since then, I have added lots of content including a blog and have seen it slip to PR5 then to PR4 where it remains.
At least my inner pages have received ranking, but I am where I want to be with SERPs — the most important factor, IMO, about any site.
Yes, I noticed that PR update just today. Had a jump to PR4 which I am happy with. It seems a PR4 to 5 is great for most sites. I noticed that sometimes when you take a breath and let things settle down a bit, the site seems to do better. But that may be a delayed payoff for hard work done months before.
By the way you have a helpful site!
