A Lot Of Work; A Little Money

Since the beginning of October 2006, I have been utilizing PayPerPost ads on this and other blogs that I manage relatively frequently. Every entry posted here is listed under the Paid Advert category so there is no mistake what I am doing.

I don’t take every opportunity that comes along as some involve gambling, which I am not interested in promoting, or the ad posting requirements are simply ridiculous.

A case in point with the latter are those postings requiring extensive offsite work: visit the advertiser’s site, sign up for their free promotional offer, review it, write about, etc. For $25 I might consider doing all of this, but wouldn’t you know that the offer usually falls somewhere between just $5 and $10.

You won’t be seeing many more of the Paid Adverts on this blog as I recently got two of my Blogger blogs approved and I’ll be pasting my PPP stuff almost exclusively over there, but only if someone makes it worth my while. My time is valuable to me and I won’t do a lot of work for someone just to receive a little bit of money in return.

On The March Toward Christmas

This week will be an interesting one as my children finish up school Thursday for their Christmas break. Okay, to be politically correct: their Winter break. Whatever it is called, I know that on Friday our home [and thus my office] will be noisy as the chatter of children waiting for Christmas morning gets louder and louder. I imagine our new kitty cats will feel all of the tension too and make their usual beeline exit to hide behind the television set when things get very noisy.

For me, I’ll be finishing up a big project on Friday and tying up some loose ends in order to have three consecutive days off. Normally, I barely even check the email on Sundays, while on many Saturdays I can often be found doing some weekly mop up work for a few early morning hours before shutting down for the weekend.

Yes, Christmas will soon be here then it’ll be gone. It may be a date on the calendar, but it is also one that I believe should live in our hearts all throughout the year. Come Tuesday, December 26th I’ll be back at work finishing up on year end activities and preparing for 2007.

I will enjoy the Christmas break, short as it will be, and I hope that you can take some extra time off too in order to better reflect on what this season is truly all about.

Link Sales, Link Exchanges

I mentioned last week my involvement with the Digital Point forums and what it has meant to me. For the most part, the site is a source of good webmaster related information, but it has also been an important venue for me in the sale and exchange of links.

Over the past few months I have been steadily building and optimizing my sites, particularly since losing ground in the last Google page rank update this past October. To my dismay, this blog and the site related to it dropped down a notch to PR4. At one time the home page was PR6, but no more.

Pricing links can be a job in and of itself. Home pages garner more money and permanent links are the priciest yet. I don’t sell links beyond one year’s time, but I know that the links I have provided are of value.

Have you done much about exchanging links? Do it, especially if the site is related to your area of expertise. You and the other party stand to gain much!
