I finished up and sent off my federal and state taxes yesterday, filing them electronically through Turbo Tax, a software product I have used the last six or seven years. I must say that the program is easier than ever, perhaps because I am now using the top of the line Premier edition to wrestle with all of those niggling little deductions and stipulations. I figured that the top of the line edition would be easier and well worth it in the long run and judging by the lower aggravation factor it looks as if I was right.

This may be the final year that I go it alone as I am looking to hire a tax accountant to help me make certain that all of my federal, state, and local taxes are always in proper order. Since taking the self employed route in November 2002 and simultaneously creating an LLC, my returns haven’t been too difficult. Now, with my business building up, there are more things to track…and potentially miss!
No, I don’t EVER want to have employees working for me. At the very least, I may subcontract some jobs or simply help a vendor connect directly with a freelancer. There are enough headaches in life and having employees is one of them, IMHO!
