Even if your writing focus is in only one area, such as writing articles, every client has unique needs and expectations.
One of my clients has tasked me to include three related “blurbs” to go with every submitted article. No longer than 100 words each, the blurbs are meant to encourage readers to “get more” information, i.e. read the related article.
Another client wants a “teaser paragraph” included with submissions, much like you see with the various article directory sites. Finally, yet another client wants text within the body of the article to be hyperlinked to other sites. In this last example, the articles are not submitted to the directories, instead they sit on sites owned by the client.
Flexibility is the key when writing. Not just in your style or flair, but with the extra things you provide for your customers. No one sized fits all strategy: deliver what they want, but remember to charge them accordingly.
If you are already linking to this site, please let me know and I will add you to my list on the column on the right. I will be updating the list later this week to include some fellow freelancers, so please make certain you submit your site’s title and URL to me as soon as you can.
It seems as if Google’s page ranking system is coming under question, to the point of prompting one company to file a lawsuit against the internet giant.
KinderStart, a Norwalk CT-based web site devoted to providing information about children, has alleged that Google suddenly and without warning banished the company’s web score [page rank], ruining the reputation of the company with site visitors. The company claims that after Google banished them in 2001 that they lost 70% of their web visitors.
KinderStart alleges Google has engaged in anticompetitive behavior and misled the public by positioning its search engine as an objective source for finding Internet content. The suit seeks unspecified financial damages and a court order that would require Google to change its ways.
Google has not responded to the charge, one that KinderStart hopes that the courts will allow to be expanded into a class action suit against the company. Read the report.
