Google Desktop to the Rescue

For the record, I am not one of those people who fawns over everything that Google does. For one, I strongly disagree with their approach to censor search results for users in communist China…I guess free speech only applies to democratic institutions. That being said, there is one product from Google that has worked wonders for me: Google Desktop.

I am pretty well organized when it comes to arranging and backing up all of my document files, but there are times that I simply cannot find an article I wrote for the life of me. Recently, pressed with finding an article which I desperately needed, I remembered Google Desktop and downloaded the program. Within moments, I was able to enter a few key search words and the article popped up in the results. I saved myself much time and certain aggravation because I had the presence of mind to use this handy tool.

Yes, it is free. I may be a bit paranoid though as I wonder if Google can snoop around my computer at any time. I guess that is the price I must pay for using Big Brother, oops, Google to help streamline my work.

He’s At It Again!

Well, you just knew that when I included my Jet Movements blog in with the sale of the Aviation Employment Board that I would have to fill that void, right? Well, starting today I did just that by launching a blog for the Corporate Flight Attendant Community: Corporate F/A Dispatch.

Corporate F/A Dispatch won’t be Jet Movements all over again. Instead, it’ll focus on business aviation, particularly corporate flight attendants. It’s particular focus will be on members of that web community and info surrounding the site.

Yeah, I am a serial blogger! :-)

Sold at BIN

I mentioned two days ago that my aviation job site, the Aviation Employment Board, was for sale. Shortly after posting the information here, I reposted the site’s availability on Sitepoint, the big webmaster web site.

On Sitepoint, I listed both my BIN {buy it now} price and started it off as an auction. After several competing bids were tendered, a buyer stepped forward and paid full price for the site. Naturally, I was very happy; we closed on the deal yesterday.

I still have my other big aviation site to manage, the Corporate Flight Attendant Community, which is the very first site I ever started way back in August 2002 [prior to that I participated on numerous other sites dating back to 1997, perhaps earlier]. No, it isn’t for sale and I will use a little of my now “free time” to do some needed changes to it.

The best part of the sale? Being able to spend additional time writing…my real passion in life!
