If you are a new author and wanting to get some extra special attention for yourself, then there is no better [or cheaper] way to accomplish this then to submit your articles to various article directories. Many directories will allow for you to submit articles about mostly any subject. Some, such as SearchWarp, have an “assignment desk” whereby you can sign up to write an article about a specific subject.
Currently, SearchWarp is registering authors who would like to write about Don Knotts, who died just a few days ago. As a “new” North Carolina resident I gave some consideration to entering, but will pass on this one as I have a few pressing deadlines to meet. Nevertheless, I am sure that the site will get several volunteers who will share what they remember of the actor known by many as Barney Fife, Andy Griffith’s deputy in the fictionalized town of Mayberry, NC.
This past weekend my wife and I rented a flick, The Net 2.0, which was an action packed identity theft thriller.
The story featured a young woman who was a computer programmer/analyst hired to work in Istanbul, Turkey. When she arrives she finds out that her credit cards are missing, her name changed, her very identity stolen. It turns out she was a pawn in a plot to foil the theft of $14 million from Russian arms dealers. Interpol and the Turkish police were involved in quashing the scam, but not before several people were murdered and the young woman was embroiled in a nightmare we can only hope that we never experience. The movie was a sequel to the 1995 thriller, The Net.
Nice scenery and a good use of imagery using Istanbul as the back drop. Once Constantinople, the city was over run by the Ottoman Turks and renamed Istanbul. Think “Old Europe” when you watch the flick.
Okay, enough of my getting away from the whole writing genre. Oh, yes, we recently saw Flight Plan and Red Eye. I thought Flight Plan was lame, but I liked Red Eye.
I missed out on the release, but Google rolled out a new service yesterday offering subscribers 100mb worth of web space for free.
Dubbed, Google Page Creator, the feature allows subscribers to create and manage a web site without knowing HTML. Your URL will be yournamehere.googlepages.com, so you are actually piggybacking on Google’s service to launch your site.
Sounds like a good idea for the novice or anyone else needing quick, easy, and FREE online access. Due to heavy demand, Google has temporarily stopped accepting subscribers, but that is expected to change shortly. You can go to their Google Page Creator link to be put on a waiting list. Google will send an email to you when things get moving again.
