Bryan, I was surprised too. Especially since my nephew used to work for VW and frequently complained about the quality issues of various models. Here in the US, VW isn't the big seller that it once was, therefore VW vehicles are not a dime a dozen. Perhaps that accounts for the high resale value?

Oh my! I can't believe that ANYONE who has dealt with Volkswagon of NA can say these are the highest resale cars! These people are simply horrible in customer service. Problems with your car? Tough-stuff, buddy! Getting warranty work is simply like begging them. Quality is lacking with plastics breaking all the time. Never again will I grace the showrooms of VW again!

Good point, Driving Course. My nephew worked on and for Volkswagen for several years and was dismayed over the quality problems of many different VW models.

Perhaps the low prices of the Rabbit and New Beetle is what keeps resale values high. Other than that, you may need to bring along your own mechanic!

I guess it goes to show that perception is more important than reality.
Over many years I've noticed that the phrase - not everything in life is as reliable as ... isn't at all true!
More importantly, VW rarely come out at the top of the reliability tables.
