This Friday Is Drive Your Corvette To Work Day

If you happen to notice a few extra Corvettes on the road while you’re making your way to and from work this Friday, there is a good reason for that.

June 27th is being celebrated as “Drive Your Corvette To Work Day” whereby ‘Vette owners are being encouraged to get behind the wheel of their favorite rides and drive them.

According to Mike Yager, founder and “Chief Cheerleader” of Mid America Motorworks, the world’s leading supplier of Corvette parts and accessories, the date is significant as it is happens to be the Friday nearest the date when the first Corvette rolled off a Flint, Michigan assembly line in 1953.

Yager started the event in 2001 with thousands of Corvette owners participating annually. This year’s event is particularly noteworthy as it takes place as Chevrolet’s parent company, General Motors, celebrates its 100th anniversary. Yager believes that the Corvette represents GM’s greatest contribution to the automotive world.

“We understand why many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally,” said Yager. “But we think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are. Wave to other Corvette owners — it’s a perfect chance for Corvette owners to meet new Corvette owners.”

If you are a ‘Vette owner or know someone who is, let’s encourage them to show off their wheels on Friday.
