Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to the readers of The Auto Writer and a Happy New Year to you too!

Christmas treeToday is the day we spend lots of time with all of our little auto writers. Therefore, we’re busy celebrating Christmas with family members and friends, taking a much needed break from our online activities.

To that end, The Auto Writer offers to you a recap of several noteworthy articles which have appeared on this site over the past few weeks with links to the same:

ALTe Offers New Life For Chrysler Execs — Two well known Chrysler executives have signed on with a Michigan start up, a company which will be providing retrofit plug-in hybrid systems for fleet buyers.

THINK City Production Back On Track — The tiny THINK City is back in production, thanks to help from Valmet Automotive and a previously unheard of (by me) company who owns a 31% stake in the Norwegian EV maker.

Cruze, Not Volt More Promising For GM — Taking nothing away from the Volt, the high volume Chevy Cruze will do more than its EV mate when it comes to bolstering GM, particularly Chevrolet.

Rock Solid No More: Toyota”s Image Takes A Hit — A lot of people are surprised that Toyota’s lofty image has come down to earth. Did the world’s largest automaker grow too fast? Ala GM, Toyota has been battling adverse publicity since this summer.

Saab Sale Collapse Stuns Automotive World — A lot has happened since the Saab sale collapsed in November including GM selling some of the automaker’s assets to a Chinese automaker in the middle of December. A new buyer looks to be on the horizon, a sharp change since Koenigsegg pulled out just weeks ago.

Eventually, Mahindra Will Make Its US Debut — Whatever happened to Mahindra, the Indian truck maker? Well, their trucks are still slated to roll out in the US market, though Spring 2010 seems more likely, more than a year after these trucks were scheduled to appear.

Mercedes Plus Alabama Equals C-Class? — The C-Class is the most popular of all Mercedes models sold in the USA.  For that reason and because foreign exchange rates are so unfavorable right now, Mercedes may build this model at its plant in Alabama.
