Transmission started to fail @ mid 85k, intermittently not shifting out of gear when cold. Took it in to have service look at it, they said nothing is wrong. Brought it in again and suprise, "we couldn't get it to act up". 20k miles later and now out of warranty, transmission completely fails. After days of arguing that this should have been taken care of while under warranty, "not my problem" says the service douche. What a joke! 4 grand out of pocket for a "brand new" transmission, never buy a dodge/chrysler ever again!

I have 269000 on my 2005 Dodge Magnum. I purchased it new in July 2004. I still have the torque readings for every bolt. PFS keeps track of everything in case you didn't know.
NO Rust just road dust.
PEACE.

I have a 2005 Magnum with a Hemi. I've had just minor problems just like any car. I have over 151,000 miles on it & no trans or engine problems and going strong!
I still love my Magnum just like I did when I bought it over 6 years ago!

Has to make a person wonder if Mercedes didn't pawn these junk trannys off on Dodge? Poor dumb Dodge bought it,but It looks like they're gonna make the customer pay for it. Lifes not fair so just roll with it.

I really love the car. It is uber cool looking and handles quite sportily. The 3.5 has plenty of power. We test drove some SE 2.7's and they were noticeably underpowered. I keep thinking about the SRT8. My 08 was shifting rough between 1st and 2nd. Dealer did the software upgrade. It helped, but Tranny still not as smooth as it should be. If it goes south after warranty runs out, I would have to lean toward looking for an aftermarket solution. It doesn't make sense to me to replace junk with the same(stock)junk. I'll probably own these cars for a long time, so I'll just deal with whatever comes up. Along with others, I wish that Dodge would just fess up and recall the tranny. And its not about Maintenance when you have tranny probs at 25K miles. That mentality wouldn't even fly in the 70's. Peace Out

My loving spouse and I own 2 Mags. Both SXT's. Mine is 07 and hers is an 08. The 07 is seamless, but the 08 is starting to lose my faith. I'm starting to pat myself on yhe back for getting the extended warranty. I just hope that "when" the tranny does take a dive that its still covered. Now I'm dealing with the light on dash "ESP/BAS comes and goes. When it comes on the brakes feel like a marshmellow. The dealer diognosed it and said it was a sensor in the steering column. He ordered the part and I'm waiting on him to call. Fingers crossed.

I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum Hemi. I bought it 3 years ago and have put 120,000 kms on it. In that time frame I honestly have had to do next to no maintenance to it. Tires, brake pads, EGR valve and sway bar link As of now and it having 145,000km's on it I am just having to do rotors and the upper ball joint. (Mind you the car has seen its fair share of burnouts.)
I did have a 2.7L Magnum for 6 months. In the first 2 weeks the brakes completely locked up on me while I was driving on the hwy. The tranny was shuttering and it only had 10,000km on it. I took it back to the dealer and they charged me to fix it even though it was obviously still under warranty. Got rid of that thing as fast as I could.
In my eyes not every Magnum is a lemon.. I am still in love with mine even with gas prices being as high as they are!

I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum SXT 3.5 RWD which I have owned since November of 2004. It has 101,800 miles on it. I am on my third set of tires. I service it regularly and have never had any major problems. I had the dealer service the transmission in 2008 and will be doing so again this year. In 2009 I had to spend $75.00 and an hour of my time replacing the shifter because they do not make a $2.00 repair part for it. No problems other than that. I was concerned about the brakes as I have never had them replaced. I will need to replace the pads this fall as they are now in the yellow. Obviously I tour in this vehicle; it is predominately highway miles. This car is far from a lemon. I think people do not understand that you get back what you give. Car ownership is like home ownership which is like marriage; you have to take care of the small details to keep things working properly. I think todays Chrysler/Dodge products are the best they have ever offered. I am well pleased with the car. I just bought a new Town and Country in May as my 2003 Caravan was approaching 98,000 miles and I had a need for something larger. Never had any problems with it or the 1997 caravan before it. I took care of it and it took care of me. I am replacing the ball joints and shocks on my 1998 Dakota next week. I guess it is about time seeing as it has 205,000 miles on it.
