General Motors is extending its employee pricing program to all customers effective Wednesday, August 20th and running through Tuesday, September 2nd. Marketed under the banner, “The price you General Motorspay is the price we pay - not a cent more,” the program had boosted GM sales by 47% when it was last offered in June 2005.

GM says that the incentive is being offered to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary, an event that the automaker will be celebrating on September 16, 2008. GM has also been hit hard by a sales slump this year, making it necessary for the automaker to have a plan in place to clear dealer lots in time to receive already arriving 2009 models.

One Hundred Years of Automotive Innovation

“We have 100 years of innovation behind us, but what’s ahead is even more exciting,” said Mark LaNeve, vice president, GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “We brought the world electric starters, the fully automatic transmission, OnStar and fuel cell vehicles. It’s been a long history of technological leadership, and the result of that innovative spirit is on GM dealer’s lots today. To celebrate, we’re offering the employee discount to everyone on our 2008 and some of our 2009 models. This is a phenomenal offer for consumers.”

The employee pricing plan is available through participating dealers who will likely make known their involvement through print ads, banners, radio and TV spots, and the internet. Discounts can be taken on almost all 2008 model year vehicles offered across GM’s eight domestically sold brands which include: Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, Chevrolet, Saturn, Saab, GMC, and Hummer. Even select 2009 models are included: Chevrolet Cobalt and HHR, Pontiac Vibe and G5 and, surprisingly, the Cadillac CTS.

Not included with employee pricing are all 2008 medium duty trucks.
