Cadillac Sets CTS-V Pricing

The CTS-V is back, the hottest Cadillac ever. Priced from $59,995, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will be available beginning on November 1st, ready for you to blow the doors off of your neighbor's BMW M5 sedan.
Cadillac’s CTS-V is coming back, the sportiest and most powerful model ever to wear the Cadillac emblem. Production has already started for the 2009 model with the first CTS-Vs being made available for sale on November 1st.
All Hail The New Champion!
Pricing for the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V begins at $59,995 and with that package owners will get to drive the fastest production sedan in the world. The sedan’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine produces 556 h.p. and 551 lb.-ft. of torque at 3800 rpm. Featuring Magnetic Ride Control — what Cadillac says is the world’s fastest reacting suspension — the CTS has successfully made the rounds of Nürburgring, the ultimate test track for cars of its class.
“The launch of the new CTS-V presents a compelling proposition for luxury and performance enthusiasts,” says Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel. “The CTS-V is a strong statement about Cadillac design and technology and a new member in the club of the highest performing luxury cars.”
Well Equipped With A Handful Of Tasty Options Available
Standard equipment for the CTS-V includes all the toys, gizmos, and luxury accouterments that owners expect in their sport sedan. A hand-crafted cabin, 6-speed manual transmission, and Bose surround sound system with a 40-gigabyte hard drive with a USB port are just some of the included amenities.
Among the handful of options available is a new 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted shift buttons, 14-way adjustable Recaro performance seats, microfiber interior accents and a large “Ultra-View” sunroof. Personally, I’d stick with the manny tranny to fully enjoy the sedan’s capabilities.
Additional Cadillac Models To Follow
“Along with the new Escalade Hybrid, the CTS-V is a key aspect in Cadillac’s ongoing renaissance, with dramatic designs and very sophisticated technologies for luxury consumers,” McNabb said. “These two new high-tech Cadillac models pave the way for a series of new Cadillac models coming in 2009, including the upcoming CTS Sport Wagon and SRX Crossover.”
So, what might be the best feature of the all-new CTS-V? Why that would be the rear view mirror and the view of the V10-powered BMW M5 that simply cannot keep up with you!
Expect to see the CTS-V on display at major auto shows going forward, beginning with next month’s Los Angeles Auto Show.

I am eagerly awaiting to see the CTS sports wagon. Actually I am waiting to see how many people will actually buy one. I think making the CTS into a family vehicle is the biggest mistake that Cadillac has made in recent years. The CTS is a sports car not a wagon, it would not surprise me if regular CTS sales go down also. I know I would not buy a sports car that also has a wagon in the line up. Hopefully others will not feel the same as me.

Thank you for your comment, Vinny.
The CTS wagon will be available in the US, but it’s primary market is Europe, where luxury wagons are commonplace.
I agree that the CTS wagon probably won’t be a hot seller here — we already have the SRX — but it GM may sell just enough units to keep in Cadillac showrooms.
I am excited about the expansion of the CTS brand though. With the standard sedan, CTS-V, wagon, and coupe, the CTS will be a complete offering, allowing Cadillac to compete against the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes — a generation ago this would not have been possible.

Is the CTS even in need of an expansion though. I think Cadillac and GM in general should be making little 4 cylinder SRX models instead of a luxury wagon. Very little of the population will be looking to buy a luxury station wagon.
I saw the Provoq at the New York auto show and can’t believe that Cadillac is not using that body with a modified 4 cylinder engine. Just my opinion of course.
