Buzz Begins To Build In Advance Of L.A. Show

The Los Angeles Auto Show will officially open to the public this Friday, but members of the press will have two preview days on Wednesday and Thursday to get their first look at several new models and whatever concepts are brought to L.A. I have the privilege of being in attendance on Los Angeles Auto Showboth press days and will use that time to network, conduct interviews, take pictures, and post that information to this site as well as prepare me for several upcoming writing projects.

A bit of an edge was taken off of this year’s show when General Motors announced that they would not be holding any press conferences. Usually, automakers schedule one or more twenty minute press conferences to present new models, concepts, and the like, but GM has decided to save their major debuts for the Detroit auto show (NAIAS) this January.

Plenty Of New and Updated Models On Display

Still, Los Angeles beckons and all of the world (at least the automotive press, analysts, and enthusiasts) will have a chance to see what is on display. Though General Motors will not be showcasing the Chevrolet Cruze and Cadillac CTS coupe as originally promised, there will be plenty of other cars on hand worth examining including World and North American debuts of several models.

Among the passenger vehicles making their world debut will be the next generation Ford Fusion, the 2010 Ford Mustang, Nissan 370Z, Infiniti G37 Convertible, Porsche Boxster, Nissan Cube, and the Lexus RS350.

Cars that have already made their debut elsewhere but will be shown for the first time in North America include the Ferrari California, BMW 7 Series, Kia Soul, Audi A6, and the Honda Insight.

I haven’t worked out my complete schedule for the show therefore after Tuesday’s article there may be a bit of delay before I post anything for Wednesday. Given that I typically operate on east coast time and California is three hours behind, my loyal eastern readers probably won’t find anything posted until late in the day.

Thursday and Friday should have the bulk of the articles and pictures from the show and I’ll do a wrap up early next week before returning to what should be business as usual.

For people desiring to attend this year’s show it will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center beginning November 21st and running through November 30th. Show hours will also be held on Thanksgiving Day.
