Luxury Buick to be Built in China
I won’t go into all of the details here, but the Buick name in China is highly regarded as there is a certain amount of good history with the brand that stretches back to the days before communist rule. Suffice to say, GM is doing well in China in part because of the revered Buick name.
According to a published report the Buick Royaume will be built and sold in China, a country where GM finds a full two-thirds of its Far East sales. The car will be based on the rear wheel drive zeta platform which powers the new Holden Commodore; that same platform will be the basis for the Chevy Camaro and other larger rear wheel drive vehicles produced by GM.
GM is the #1 auto seller in the People’s Republic of China according to the most recent sales figures.

Zero Percent Financing Auto Loans: Are They Worth It?
Consumers are being teased by offers of interest free loans that at first glance look like a tremendous deal. For some buyers these loans can work to their advantage, but for others it could be the deal that lures them into a trap costing the consumer thousands of dollars later on.
Several television ads lately have been pushing the concept of zero percent financing for various new vehicles. One offer will allow consumers to finance a new SUV for a 72 month loan, interest free. On the surface, this offer looks tremendously appealing and it could be that way for you if you are the right kind of consumer. Have you considered buying a car with zero percent financing? If so, you need to fully explore just what you are getting with this type of loan or you could end up being trapped in one heck of a mess!
Toyota, Lend Me Your Ear
I wrote on another blog this morning about Toyota’s decision to go ahead with the Auris name for their upcoming Corolla replacement. Although I did not comment within that blog regarding its choice of name, I can tell you one thing: it will get a lot of ribbing from car nuts as “auris” means “ear” in Latin.
Toyota probably won’t lose sales over the choice in model names. However, it could look a bit foolish to some as the venerable Corolla name is replaced with a name for a body part.
I hate to think of the new name Toyota is planning for its eventual replacement for the Avalon…
