I never followed through on writing a “review” for the movie, Cars now appearing in theatres across America. My apologies!

Anyway, the Disney Pixar movie was superb, not so much because of the storyline, but for its terrific use of computer animation. Some scenes were so sharp that they almost looked real.

The story itself was decent enough as it featured the exploits of a rookie car, Lightning McQueen. In a three way tiebreaker duel, McQueen’s kindness really came out and the producers successfully showed viewers what is really important when it comes to racing: helping others. Kudos to Disney Pixar for presenting a nice moral to the story…it could have gone otherwise.

This was the first movie for our young children and they sat through the whole event in rapt attention. At nearly 2 hours in length, it was longer than the typical movie, but there was enough going on to keep everyone watching.

Yes, this movie will be one for the home library when the video comes out. In the meantime if you are looking for a fun summertime family activity, Cars will certainly not disappoint you.

Another Chinese automaker, Hebei Zhongxing Automobile Co. Ltd, is eyeing bringing their vehicles to the U.S. market following earlier reports that competitors Geely and Chery are also planning to sell cars in America.

As a maker of only a small number of vehicles, currently about 7000 vehicles per year,Zhongxing doesn’t seem to be much of a potential player. Their cars aren’t even emissions legal.

Still, this may not hinder the automaker for long. Zhongxing could partner with a foreign automaker and quickly ramp up production of Chinese made Chevys, Nissans, or what have you.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that DaimlerChrysler will be once again offering worker discounts to the average buyer beginning on July 1st.

Last year, all three of America’s automakers waged an effective, but costly battle for customers by offering similar programs to consumers. As of this writing DCX has declined to furnish all of the details of the pending incentive program.
